Police at Bibiani are holding 10 suspected sex workers in detention as part of a crackdown on prostitution in the Western North Regional town.

The suspects will start appearing in court on Monday, police told DailymailGH, confirming the arrests.

The Friday night raid comes barely 48 hours after a man was knifed to death at Sokoban in Kumasi —after he refused to pay a sex worker after service.

The Bibiani Divisional Crime Officer, Chief Superintendent Seth Serwunu told our correspondent that the suspects were rounded up at Matadi Spot, a popular drinking bar at Old-Town, a Bibiani suburb.

The ladies —all Nigerians, are between the ages of 16 and 27 years.

Items retrieved from the house known also to be harbouring wanted criminals were boxes of used and unused condoms, folded toilet rolls and unspecified amount of money.

Chief Superintendent Serwunu said the operation was carried out following numerous complains of armed robbery attacks on unsuspecting victims who reside around the area.

The police, he added, will collaborate with the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipal Assembly to demolish the site which serves as a hub for criminals.
