12 more Lassa Fever cases reported in Ghana

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has confirmed 12 additional cases of Lassa fever bringing the total number of cases in the country now to 14.

The latest update from the GHS said so far one death has been recorded.

On Sunday (26 February), the GHS disclosed that the first case was a 40-year-old trader, who was unwell for a period of about two weeks and finally died at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

The Ghana Health Service is, however, reminding the public of the need to report to the nearest health facility when unwell.

“A total of 97 contacts have been identified and efforts are underway to identify more contacts,” the GHS statement said.
