Seventeen people have died in an accident in Northern Ghana, local media citing the country’s road safety authority said.
At least fifty people were also injured in the accident near the Savannah Region town of Fufulso about 147km from the national capital, Accra.
Among those killed were children, and a driver of one of the buses which was destroyed in the accident, authorities said.
The cause of the accident is not clear yet.
The injured were given first aid at the scene of the accident before being transferred to a hospital.
A Northern Region Director at the National Road Safety Authority, Alexander Ayatah said an investigation has started.
Ghana recorded over 2,500 deaths in 2020 with deplorable roads and disregard for traffic regulations blamed.
