Two people, including a six-year-old boy were killed in an accident on the Asante-Mampong-Ejura motor road on Saturday.
The accident which occured just before 8 a.m., involved a Renault tanker and a Ssangyong bus, police at the Mampong Division in the Ashanti Region said in a report sighted by dailymailgh.com.
The report said the tanker with registration number GN 8354 which was from Kumasi to Atebubu lost control of his steering wheel while descending the hilly part of that stretch at Sataso.
It veered off its lane and ran into the Ssangyong bus with registration number GW 7038-X, which was using the opposite side of the road with at least 12 passengers onboard.
“The twelve persons onboard the Ssangyong bus sustained injuries and were rushed to the Mampong Government Hospital for treatment but one Zalia Mamouda aged 40 and Alaru Rufai aged six died on arrival”, the report indicated.
The police said bodies of the deceased were deposited at the hospital’s morgue for preservation.
The vehicles were however impounded at the police station while the suspect drivers have been detained to assist investigations, the police said.
