FIFA has given Ghana Football Association a total sum of $10.5 million for partaking in the 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament in Qatar last year between November and December.

According to the sports minister in Ghana, Mustapha Ussif, the World Football Governing Body has given Ghana’s fair share of the 2022 World Cup money.

He made this known to the press and the general public at a press conference on Wednesday, July 26,2023 and gave detailed information about the whole thing.

Ghana’s Black Stars failed to progress to the next stage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament in Qatar as they bowed out at just the group stages.

Following their early elimination from the tournament, Ghana was entitled to a total amount of $10.5 million. A $2.5 million participation fee and a $8 million prize pool were included in the allocation.

“The GFA has written to the Ministry that FIFA has transferred the prize money of the 2022 World Cup to the FA”

Outlining how the money will be used, Mustapha Ussif said, “We are just about going to AFCON. We also want to improve some sports infrastructure. The FA has written to us that they want to improve the infrastructure at Prampram”

Ghana placed last in the group and exited the competition at the group stages after losing to Portugal and Uruguay.
