Moroccan star Achraf Hakimi has blasted FIFA president Gianni Infantino seeking redress following defeat to Croatia on Saturday evening.
After the consolation final between Morocco and Croatia, emotions have risen considerably on the Moroccan side. Achraf Hakimi could not control his emotions and went to get a story from Gianni Infantino.
According to Hakimi and his fellow players, Morocco was entitled to a penalty kick in the final phase. Referee Abdulrahman Al-Jassim, however, did not want to hear anything, much to the anger of the fullback and his teammates.
After the final whistle, Hakimi had to be pulled away from the referee by national coach Walid Regragui, after which he strode furiously towards the catacombs.
There he met Infantino. According to NOS reporter Tom Egbers, the Paris Saint-Germain player stood just a few centimeters from the FIFA president, after which he would have raged aggressively.
NOS was not allowed to film the incident because it did not take place in the official mixed zone. It is currently unclear whether Hakimi will be suspended.
