The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially released the academic calendar for the 2024/25 academic year for both basic schools and Senior High Schools (SHS).
In a press statement signed by Mr. Prince Agyeman-Duah, Director of Schools and Instructions Division, the academic year will commence on Wednesday (30 October) for all SHS students.
For the current first-year students in transitional calendar schools, the 2023/24 academic year will conclude on Monday (28 October) after which they will be promoted to Form Two and will continue with the new academic year immediately.
The GES statement specified that incoming first-year students for Single Track and Transitional Schools are also set to start school on 30 October Continuing students in Single Track Schools will reopen on the same date.
“This re-opening date aims to ensure that the school calendar starts in September next year, paving the way for our final year students to write their 2025/26 WASSCE in May/June,” the statement explained.
