Ghana’s Black Stars delivered a dominant performance, crushing Chad 5-0 in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers matchday five clash at the Accra Sports Stadium. This emphatic win propelled Ghana to the top of Group I with 12 points, bringing them closer to qualification.

The Black Stars wasted no time asserting their dominance, breaking the deadlock just two minutes into the match. Antoine Semenyo capitalized on a rebound to put Ghana ahead. In the 32nd minute, Inaki Williams doubled the lead with a well-placed header from Kingsley Schindler’s cross. Shortly before halftime, Jordan Ayew converted a penalty to make it 3-0 after Semenyo was brought down in the box.

Ghana continued their relentless attacking display in the second half. Mohammed Salisu added a fourth goal, heading in an expertly delivered corner from Ernest Nuamah. Nuamah then sealed the rout in the 69th minute, finishing off a brilliant pass from Ayew.

Coach Otto Addo’s lineup featured key players such as Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus, and Salisu, who all played crucial roles in the victory. Making his international debut, Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare had a quiet game, as Chad posed little threat. Another debutant, Lawrence Agyekum of Cercle Brugge, came on in the second half to replace Partey.

With this result, Ghana shifts focus to their next match against Madagascar on Monday in Morocco, where a win would cement their place at the top of the group and edge them closer to World Cup qualification. Meanwhile, Chad remains winless and will take on Comoros in their next fixture.
