A court in Ghana’s capital, Accra has remanded all 21 members of a group attempting to break away from the West African nation.

They are facing charges of participating in the campaign of a prohibited organization and attending a meeting of the organization.

The accused persons including 20 males and a female were rounded up by troops from the Ghana Army at Kpevedui in an early Monday raid.

Prosecution told the court that the suspects made mobile money transactions ranging from GHc400 to GHc 800 to be recruited into the military arms of the secessionist group.

The development has been described by security operatives as the biggest bust since last year.

Background

Led by 80-year-old Mr. Charles Komi Kudzordzi alias Papavi Hogbedetor the Homeland Study Group Foundation (HSGF) declared independence on November 17.

The event which was widely broadcast on social media platforms was held about 100 meters away from the Police Training School at Ho in the Volta Region.
