A fire has gutted a two-bedroom house at Abuakwa Abease, killing a mother and her two daughters, according to multiple media reports.
The fire which started on Wednesday dawn also destroyed properties worth thousands of cedis.
Loud noises from the victims who got trapped in the building triggered a rescue mission. Locals however said they were unsuccessful due to the intensity of the fire.
“She was robbed two months ago and another happened last week. So she had improved the enforcement behind the door,” he said.
He further explained that “we broke into the house from the back but the fire was too much for us to enter”.
The bodies of the deceased which were later discovered in the debris have been deposited at the morgue.
The three are identified as Abigail Manu 28, Norah Yeboah, 9 and Philipa Yeboah, 6.
The police have since started investigating the incident.
In a related development firefighters also battled an inferno which razed down a printing press at Asafo in Kumasi.
The fire which occurred at the Fig Designs and Branding House on Wednesday morning has since been declared doused. Officers at the scene told dailymailgh.com that investigations will uncover the cause of the fire.
Items including laptops, printers and other equipment have been destroyed.
