Two additional COVID-19 related deaths have been recorded in Ghana bringing the country’s total fatalities to 340.

According to data available on the Ghana Health Service’s webpage 1,420 active cases have been recorded.

The West African nation has so far recorded 56, 806 cases of the virus with 55,046.

Many have attributed the sharp rise of the cases to the Christmas festivities and the conduct of the country’s citizens in the heat of the 2020 polls.

This has also coincided with the reopening of schools after students spent more than 10 months at home due to the virus.
