A murder probe has been launched after a man was stabbed to death at Suame-Maakro near Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
Officers from the Suame Divisional Police Command in the Ashanti Region rushed to the scene on the Suame-Maakro highway at about 5:30am on Thursday following reports of the stabbing.
His body lied supine in a pool of blood with a deep cut at his back. He was dressed in a blue jean trousers, a white shirt and a pair of sandals.
He was confirmed dead by officers at the scene.
Police revealed that the deceased had in his possession an Itel Mobile Phone, an ATM card, a Health Insurance Card and a Volta River Authority identity card.
He was later named as Elijah Kenja, a Line Maintenance Officer at the Northern Distribution Company — a power distribution company wholly owned by the Volta River Authority.
He was stationed in Wa, the capital of the Upper West Region until his untimely death.
His body has since been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for autopsy.
It is suspected that the deceased may be a victim of an act of robbery, an officer who wanted to remain anonymous told Dailymailgh’s Jonathan Ofori.
