Cameroonian captain, Vincent Aboubakar has been named as the best player in the group stage of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

The former FC Porto striker scored five goals in AFCON Group Stage and has been rewarded for his efforts by CAF at the end of the group phase of the competition.

Aboubakar scored twice in the opening game of the tournament to give the host nation a perfect start to the tournament as they came from behind to pick all three points against Burkina Faso.

With his brace in the face game, he was the only player to score twice in the first games of the tournament.

Aboubakar also scored twice against Ethiopia in Cameroon’s 4-1 comeback win over the Walias.

In the final group game, the Indomitable Lions striker grabbed his fifth goal of the competition to emerge the top scorer after the group stages.

Due to his stallar display in the three matches, CAF named him as the best player so far in the competition after banging in five goals.
