A/R: 27 suspected illegal miners arrested with explosives, tramadol

Operation Vanguard personnel in the Ashanti Region on Thursday, December 5, 2019 arrested 27 illegal miners during a search in the Bosome Freho District.

The suspects who were arrested at Yapesa have been handed over to the Bosome Freho District Police Command for further action.

This was contained in a police statement sighted by Dailymailgh.com.

Items retrieved from the mining site include 26 pieces of explosives, three wrappers of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp, two pieces of tramadol tablets and a cash amount of GHS 1,013.

The statement added that 23 of the explosives were released to the Operation Vanguard team into their custody as exhibits.

The suspects have since been detained and would be processed for court in the coming days.
