A 48-year-old man shocked residents of Adumasa in the Juaben Municipality of the Ashanti Region, when he allegedly killed his wife and later committed suicide after the act.
The body of Akwasi Korang was found afloat in the Anurum River – nearly 48 hours after the decomposing body of his wife Ama Afriyie, 38, was found few meters away from the couple’s cocoa farm.
He was said to have butchered his wife and dumped her lifeless body in the bush on Saturday, May 1, 2021.
This development prompted the chief of the area, Nana Oppong II who authorised a manhunt for the suspect.
Akwasi was later found dead after more than 5 hours of search Monday afternoon.

It is not immediately known what triggered the incident but residents say the couple had engaged in several altercations weeks before the incident.
“He had earlier threatened to kill his wife”, a resident who pleaded anonymity told dailymailgh.com.
“Sometimes it takes the chief’s intervention to settle their differences. This is really an unfortunate incident and I am sad for their children”, the resident said.
Meanwhile the police at Pemenase who are investigating the case have described the incident as a clear case of spousal abuse but describes the death of the couple as “unnatural”.
