A young nurse in her late 30s has been found dead at Ayuom near Sewua in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region.
The deceased only identified as Ruth, was spotted leaving Sewua Health Center, where she worked at about 3 pm, Monday.
But alarm was raised after she failed to return home — and was reported missing by her worried husband.
She was, however, discovered lifeless Tuesday morning just before 7am, witnesses told Dailymailgh.com.
Correspondent Jonathan Ofori, who was at the crime scene, reported that the lifeless body lied about 100 meters from her home.
“She wore plain clothes with her bag and umbrella abandoned about 30 meters from her. You could also see marks of assault on parts of her body suggesting that the deceased may have struggled with her assailants”, he reported.
A witness told Dailymailgh.com: “This place is a secluded area and we gather that she might have been raped and killed. This is the second time such murder cases have happened.”
Assemblyman for Sewua Electoral Area, Prince Kwame Adutwum wants an improved security in the area.
“I had a distress call this morning that a lifeless body has been found in the outskirts and so I rushed to the scene to see the lifeless body of a woman. Sadly her husband had earlier reported her whereabouts to the police until she was discovered here. This place is a secluded area and the incident might have happened at time there was blackout. We are appealing to the police to extend their patrols here,” Adutwum said.
Officers from the Asokwa District Police Headquarters have conveyed the body to the morgue for autopsy.
Investigations have begun.
