A/R: Thieves make off with ₵3,800 in Tepa police station raid

Suspected thieves broke into the General CID office at the Tepa Police Command and made away with cash totaling ₵3,800, according to sources familiar with the development.

The act was detected when the officers reported to work on Thursday (12 May 2022), the source said adding: “the office was ransacked and the suspects made away with ₵630 after breaking into the drawer. Other drawers were broken into but nothing was stolen”.

A police incident report widely circulated online had also confirmed that the office of the Divisional Crime Officer was also not spared.

“That upon conducting a check-in in his office, he [the Divisional Crime Officer] realized that the metal cabinet was forced opened and an amount of ₵3,200 had been stolen. A check at the DOVVSU office also showed that the said thief or thieves had broken into the another officer’s drawer [name withheld]”.

The report confirmed that a suspect is being held assisting police investigations. He has been named Clinton Asumah, a police labourer.

Officers at the Division were not reachable for request for comments.
