A/R: Two suspected armed robbers shot dead, AK47 retrieved

Two suspected armed robbers were on Tuesday, November 17, gunned down during a shootout with police, an official statement said.

The statement released by the police administration said the robbers engaged its personnel on the Manso Nkwanta road in the Ashanti region when the armed gang had attacked traders on that stretch.

One person was arrested in the process as the police say an AK47 rifle was retrieved from the suspects during the encounter, the Ghana Police Service said on Wednesday.

Updating the public on its Facebook post the police assured the public that it will work tirelessly to “get these criminally minded people one after the other to make our communities safe”.

“Further details to follow soon”, the statement further added.

In the past few months, Ghana has witnessed a string of robberies in what appears to be a new wave of crimes in parts of the country.
