Chiefs and Queen Mothers of Ada in Ghana’s Greater Accra Region have called on Unlimited Cancer Care International (UCCI) to maintain its efforts in raising cancer awareness and providing crucial health services across the region.

The appeal was made during a visit by the U.S.-based non-profit to the Ada Traditional Council as part of the “UCCI Ghana Projects 2024” campaign.

The chiefs commended UCCI’s determination to tackle the challenging fight against cancer, emphasizing the need for sustained action. “Ada is grateful, and like Oliver Twist, we would always ask for more visits and screenings,” the traditional leaders urged, reflecting the community’s desire for continued support.

UCCI’s outreach included visits to the McDan Electrochem salt mining company and donations of school supplies, such as cancer-branded exercise books and mathematical sets, under “The Condi Projects” for deprived communities in Ada. Over 300 men and women also received breast cancer screenings, organized in partnership with the U.S. entity, M&B Foundation, and facilitated by LYB Legacy Limited.

Agivert Jackson, President and Founder of UCCI, praised the local leaders and community members for their warm reception. “It is heartwarming to see so many of you gathered here today in support of this enviable community health outreach program, geared towards the well-being of your people,” Jackson said. She highlighted the significance of early detection, stating, “Early detection saves lives, and your presence here underscores the commitment we all share in battling this formidable disease.”

Jackson acknowledged the struggles faced by cancer patients and stressed the importance of community solidarity. “Cancer is a challenge that touches many lives, but it is through events like these that we find strength and solidarity. Our community is stronger when we support each other, when we offer a helping hand, a listening ear, and a compassionate heart to those who need it most,” she affirmed.

Addressing cancer patients directly, Jackson offered words of encouragement: “To those who are currently fighting cancer, know that you are not alone. Your courage and resilience inspire us all. We are here for you, standing beside you every step of your journey.” She also paid tribute to survivors, saying, “To the survivors among us, your stories of triumph provide hope and encouragement to everyone facing their own battles.”

Jackson extended her gratitude to healthcare professionals, volunteers, and supporters who have contributed to the success of UCCI’s initiatives. “Your dedication and hard work are the backbone of our efforts to create a healthier, cancer-free future,” she said, urging continued advocacy for awareness, research funding, and better access to medical care.

Dr. Zakiyyah Backman, Founder of M&B Foundation, expressed her appreciation for the warm reception by the Ada Traditional Council and pledged ongoing support for UCCI’s future projects. “We at M&B Foundation are happy to have partnered with Unlimited Cancer Care International for this great humanitarian trip. Our efforts and contributions will go a long way to better the lives of people in these communities and others we will visit in Ghana,” Dr. Backman noted.

Naana Adiki Manyeyo Adi I, Queen Mother of Ada and Founder of Manyeyo Foundation, expressed profound gratitude for UCCI and M&B Foundation’s choice to support the Ada community. “We at Ada are grateful and happy that, among your list for these projects in Ghana, you chose Ada. We look forward to future collaborations that would inure to the betterment of our people,” she said.

As UCCI and its partners continue their mission, the chiefs and queen mothers of Ada hope that the organization’s efforts will not be a fleeting initiative but rather a sustained commitment to combating cancer in their communities and beyond.
