Adum murder trial begins November 13

A High Court in Kumasi will on November 13, start the full trial of Inspector Ahmed Twumasi, a policeman accused of killing his girlfriend, Victoria Dapaah at Adum in April this year.

During proceedings on Monday (23 October), the court commenced a case management conference, held in camera, and is expected to call its first prosecution witness at the next sitting.

Twumasi, who has been charged for murdering Victoria aka Maadwoa by allegedly shooting her several times, has pleaded not guilty.

The court will also on November 14 in what state prosecutors describe as attempts to have an expeditious trial in the interest of justice.

The prosecution had earlier indicated its readiness to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt that the accused person caused the death of the late Victoria Dapaah by shooting her multiple times at close range on 20 April, this year.

An autopsy report released by the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) has identified six bullet entry wounds and seven exit wounds on the body of the late Victoria Dapaah.

The deceased died of haemorrhagic shock due to multiple gunshot injuries. Pathologists described the manner of death as “unnatural”.
