Day 9 of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations saw the competition record its first goalless games — all three fixtures contested, in fact. Thus, the sextet of Ghana, Cameroon, Guinea-Bissau, Benin (all of Group F), Angola and Mauritania (Group E) wait till the final set of group games to decide their fate.
Groups A and B have already concluded, with Sunday — Day 10 — delivering some interesting results. Rookies Madagascar stunned already-qualified three-time champions Nigeria to emerge tops, while Uganda go through with an Egyptian side they lost to. DR Congo and Guinea recovered from slow starts to win their final games, but both would have to hang around a little longer to see if they’d get to qualify for the knockout stage as one of the four best third-placed teams.
