Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah has served notice to his critics that he is unfazed by the numerous criticisms against his decisions because it comes with the job.

“If you are a coach or a player and you are afraid of criticism then you should stop playing. People will say all sort of things but the most important thing is you deliver,” Appiah said at the post-match press conference.

Ghana won their first match at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations after putting Guinea-Bissau to the sword in Suez after drawing the first two games against Benin and Cameroon respectively.

Nonetheless, the Stars topped Group F with a win over the Djurtus with second half goals from Jordan Ayew and Thomas Partey after a terrible first half performance.

“I can’t assure you it will be the same players that will play in the next match,” Appiah said.

“I was unhappy because performance of the boys wasn’t the best so I told them to wake up. In the second half they showed a lot of urgency,” Appiah noted.

“Guinea-Bissau played well in the first half, they made the game difficult for us in the first half but we managed to make it, we have to go into the next round with more aggression,” Appiah said.

Ghana will host the second placed team in Group E on July 8th at the Ismalia Stadium where they played their first two games without a win.
