Host nation Egypt and giants Nigeria made it two wins in a row whilst the Leopards of DR Congo were eliminated with Zimbabwe also holding Uganda.

The Super Eagles became the first country to qualify to the second round of the 2019 AFCON after a convincing win over Guinea. Central defender Kenneth Omeruo headed home the match winner in the 73rd minute from a well-taken Moses Simon corner. The Super Eagles now have six points.

Zimbabwe also held Uganda in Group A to a 1-1 game. The Cranes took the lead through Emmanuel Okwi in 12th minute before Khamat Billiat equalized for the Warriors five minutes before half time.

In the last game of the day, Egypt secured a round of 16 berth with a convincing 2-0 win over DR Congo. El Mohammady scored the opener for the Pharaohs in the 25th minute before Mohamed Salah made it two in the 43rd minute.

Madagascar  will sort it out with Burundi on Thursday whilst  Senegal battle Algeria with Kenya also facing Tanzania.
