The Blue Sharks of Cape Verde Island held the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon to a 1-1 stalemate in their final group A game of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations tournament on Monday evening.
The Islanders came from a goal down to snatch a point against the Cameroonians to move on four points after a win, draw and defeat in their three matches.
Cameroon gave a lot of their first team players rest after they secured qualification into the round of 16 stage of the competition with two wins from their opening two matches against Burkina Faso and Ethiopia.
AFCON top scorer, Vincent Aboubakar made it five goals from three games as his brilliant 39th minute mark strike gave the host nation a well deserved lead at the break.
Eight minutes back from the break, Garry Rodrigues scored a potential Goal-Of-The-Tournament contender as his intelligent back flick attempt found the back of the net to restore parity.
On the 65th minute, Aboubakar should have scored his second goal of the match but the striker blasted his close range shot well over the crossbar with a chance which was easier to score than to miss.
Cape Verde picked a point and are on four ponts which could help them reach the round of 16 stage as one of the four best placed or performed 3rd placed teams.
