In his first appearance at the Africa Cup of Nations, Mohammed Kudus faced disappointment with the Ghana Black Stars, exiting the tournament at the group stage.

Grouped with Egypt, Cape Verde, and Mozambique in Group B, Ghana only secured 2 points, falling short of the needed total for advancement.

Expressing his dismay at the early exit, West Ham United forward Mohammed Kudus shared his thoughts on his X wall, saying, “To the heart & soul of Ghana. Falling short at my debut AFCON is a hard reality we face together, but as a playing body, we take full responsibility.”

The 23-year-old offered an apology to Ghanaians for the team’s performance in Ivory Coast, stating, “We deeply regret not meeting your hopes this time. Your enduring support is our motivation to make you proud in the future,” reflecting a sense of responsibility.

During Ghana’s opening match against Cape Verde, Kudus was absent, and Ghana suffered a 2-1 loss. However, on matchday 2 against Egypt, he made a significant impact, scoring a brace and earning the Man of the Match Award in the 2-2 draw. Kudus once again secured the Man of the Match title in the 2-2 draw against Mozambique, showcasing his consistent contributions to the team.
