The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has sharply criticised the seat of government, Jubilee House, calling it the “headquarters of misinformation.”

According to Mahama, the Presidency is actively involved in creating fake stories, misrepresenting facts, and spreading them across social media platforms.

These remarks from Mahama come in response to recent claims by President Nana Akufo-Addo that his political opponents, particularly from the NDC, are orchestrating a coordinated campaign of misinformation against him and his party.

During the Ghana Report Summit, which focused on combating misinformation and disinformation ahead of the 2024 general elections, President Akufo-Addo specifically mentioned the controversial ‘Agyapadie’ document.

He alleged that the document was part of a broader strategy to tarnish his image and disrupt his administration.

However, addressing party supporters in the Upper East Region to campaign for votes, the oppositon leader dismissed the President’s accusations, instead pointing the finger back at the Jubilee House.

“The President condemned misinformation and cited the ‘Agyapadie’ document as an example. However, what the President might not realize is that his office, the Flagstaff House, is the headquarters of misinformation,” Mahama asserted.

The NDC’s Director of Elections, Dr. Omane Boamah, who was also present at the event, reinforced Mahama’s criticisms. He argued that the opposition is not responsible for any negative campaigns against the government.

Instead, he suggested that President Akufo-Addo should critically examine the content of the “Agyapadie” document.

Dr. Boamah questioned the Presiden000000t’s accountability, asking how a document allegedly predicting the President’s actions could be so accurate if it wasn’t based on real observations. He argued that rather than blaming the opposition, the President should reflect on how his administration seems to have fulfilled the negative predictions outlined in the document.

“How come I campaigned to protect the public purse? How come I campaigned to develop Ghana? Yet this document is indicating that I came only for my people and for my clan? If I were the president, I’d be more concerned,” Boamah remarked.

He further criticized the President for frequently attributing the nation’s challenges, including economic difficulties, to the NDC, urging the President to consider the implications of the ‘Agyapadie’ document on his governance.
