Richard Ahiagbah, the Communications Director for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has been discharged from the hospital after being involved in a serious accident on the Accra-Kumasi highway. The incident occurred in the early hours of July 27, 2024, around 1:30 am, near Aduapompo, as Ahiagbah was en route to Kumasi for an official engagement.

The accident involved a collision between Ahiagbah’s vehicle and an articulated truck.

In a social media post on X, Ahiagbah confirmed that he had been released from the hospital and expressed his gratitude to God for his recovery. He also extended thanks to everyone who offered prayers and support during his ordeal.

Ahiagbah took the opportunity to specifically commend the medical professionals who treated him at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH). He expressed deep appreciation to Dr. Charles K. Dally, Dr. Otu Boateng, Dr. Roland Azorliade, and Professor Peter Ambe, along with the nursing staff, for their exceptional care.

Reflecting on his experience at KATH, Ahiagbah described it as “frightening and painful,” but also enlightening, shedding light on both the challenges and potential within Ghana’s healthcare system.

In light of his experience, Ahiagbah announced plans to establish the Turning Point Foundation, an initiative aimed at advocating for a people-centred, outcome-driven health policy in Ghana.
