Akoto Ampaw: Ghana president’s lawyer dies

Celebrated Ghanaian lawyer Anthony Akoto Ampaw, who has represented Ghanaian leader President Nana Akufo-Addo, has died, family sources said.

Ampaw, also a human rights activist, is said to have died at the University of Ghana Medical Center (UGMC) Friday, 20 October 2023.

The veteran lawyer, according to family sources, has not been well since the beginning of 2023.

Ampaw was part of the New Patriotic Party’s legal team in the Electoral Petition of 2013.

Ampaw was tipped to be named Special Prosecutor following the president’s assent to the Office of Special Prosecutor Bill.

He was a partner of Akufo-Addo, Prempeh & Co.

Lawyer Ampaw has an impeccable legacy in the legal fraternity, especially championing human rights campaigns and fair justice.
