President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reassured Ghanaians of his government’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation’s esteemed democratic reputation and territorial integrity before, during, and after the upcoming December 7 general election.
He emphasized Ghana’s global recognition within the West African Sub-region as a bastion of democracy and peace, making it an attractive destination for investment and ensuring its continued prosperity.
President Akufo-Addo underscored his administration’s dedication to preserving the socioeconomic and democratic progress achieved during his tenure as President of the Republic of Ghana, emphasizing that the country will not succumb to political unrest.
Addressing a grand durbar of the Chiefs and people of Effutu (Winneba) in the Central Region, which marked the culmination of the annual Aboakyer Festival on Saturday, President Akufo-Addo urged all citizens to refrain from actions that could disrupt the nation’s peace.
The weeklong festival, celebrated under the theme “Promoting Tradition and Development through Aboakyer Celebration,” featured various activities, including musical shows, clean-up exercises, health walks, regatta/tug-of-war, and marathon races.
President Akufo-Addo stressed that elections should not be a platform for conflict, urging everyone to contribute to peaceful and successful elections to safeguard Ghana’s democracy.
He introduced Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President, as the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearer for the upcoming polls, urging the populace to vote overwhelmingly for him and NPP parliamentary candidates.
The President highlighted the significant development projects undertaken by the NPP across the country, emphasizing the party’s deserving of continued support.
He commended the Effutu chiefs and people for preserving their ancestral traditions and encouraged them to embrace unity, tolerance, and social cohesion to accelerate development.
Neenyi Ghartey VII, Omanhen of Effutu Traditional Area, expressed gratitude to the President for the construction of a fish landing facility and the ongoing reconstruction of the Kasoa-Winneba Road.
He appealed to the Government to modernize the Winneba Market Complex to accommodate the increasing number of traders.
Neenyi Ghartey also appreciated the presence of neighboring traditional leaders at the Aboakyer Festival, highlighting the unity and peace prevailing among them.
Mr. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Member of Parliament for Effutu, lauded the Government for implementing significant projects in the area, including new senior high school buildings and healthcare facilities.
He pledged to serve and support all constituents, regardless of political affiliation or ethnicity, emphasizing his commitment to the well-being of the community.
