President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo on Monday, November 4, 2019 began a two-day tour of the Volta region.

By his schedule , he will be meeting the Regional Security Council then proceed to the Adaklu and Akatsi towns respectively to inspect ongoing infrastructural projects in the area .

He will also use the opportunity to grace the 30th anniversary of the Akatsi district assembly. The president is expected to visit the Volta Star Textile Company amongst other engagements.

Ahead of the president’s visit there has been an outcry of the people in the region regarding their bad road networks. The agitated citizenry launched a campaign dubbed # FixVoltaRoads. The campaign is aimed at getting government’s attention to fix their roads.

Speaking to the media, residents of the Ho Municipality said they are expecting the president to among other things address issue regarding the bad roads during his tour.

“Potholes that are on the major roads that we have been crying over are now being filled. I don’t know the intention behind that. But what I can say is that it is a way of deceiving the President in the first place so he has a feeling that he is working.

“But, I am expecting that his coming to the region should serve as a call point for him to see how deplorable our road networks are in the region,” he a resident said.

He added: “We want him to address the issues of bad roads. About a month ago, we had campaigners calling for contractors to come back on our roads. But after all that, we have not seen any contractor. It shows that the government is not listening to the people.”
