President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reflected on his administration’s accomplishments, emphasizing the transformative policies and economic strides made under his leadership.
Speaking at the launch of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana’s Bicentennial Anniversary on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at the Osu Castle, the President expressed pride in the legacy his government is leaving behind.
“I speak to you proud of the achievements my government has chalked under God’s guidance and the support of our people. From transformative policies in education, health, industry, infrastructure, and agriculture, to the promotion of good governance and economic development,” he stated. He added, “I’m confident in all humility, prosperity will judge well the Akufo-Addo government’s performance. Future generations will look back on this era and say that we laid a strong foundation for progress and prosperity.”
Highlighting improvements in the health, education, and energy sectors, the President noted that these interventions have significantly elevated the quality of life for Ghanaians. He credited these advancements to his administration’s commitment to fostering sustainable development.
Akufo-Addo also commended the Presbyterian Church of Ghana for its immense contributions to national growth over the past two centuries. He lauded the church for its role in spreading the gospel and its influence on societal values. “The impact of the gospel is not only seen in schools and hospitals but in the moral fibre of our people,” he remarked.
The President also acknowledged the church’s unwavering support for his administration, emphasizing the personal and professional strength he has drawn from their prayers. “As President, I have often drawn strength and wisdom from the word of God…Throughout my tenure of office, the Presbyterian Church has been a steadfast partner praying for me, encouraging me, and supporting my government’s vision of national transformation. For this, I’m deeply grateful,” he said.
He concluded by expressing gratitude for the church’s continued prayers and inspiration during challenging moments, underscoring their role in sustaining his leadership. “Your prayers have sustained me, and your faith has inspired me to persevere even in the most challenging times,” the President added.
