John Dramani Mahama, flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has delivered a blistering critique of President Nana Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, accusing them of severely damaging Ghana’s democracy and failing to meet the nation’s expectations.
Speaking at the NDC’s manifesto launch on August 24, 2024, Mahama described the current administration as a “biggest political scam” in Ghana’s history, lamenting the destruction of livelihoods and the rise in poverty under their watch.
Mahama asserted that the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration has not only failed to live up to its promises but has also worsened the conditions of ordinary Ghanaians.
“Most Ghanaians will agree that Nana Akufo-Addo is indeed the President Ghana never got. Indeed, I dare say, his much-touted economic whiz kid, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is also the economic messiah Ghana never got,” he declared, emphasizing his belief that their governance has been detrimental to the country’s well-being.
The former president criticized the NPP’s 2024 manifesto as a mere repackaging of empty promises designed to deceive voters. He argued that the current administration’s failings have led to widespread hardship, impunity, and mismanagement, which he believes must come to an end.
Mahama called for a decisive change in leadership, urging Ghanaians to vote for a restoration of trust and effective governance.
“Your vote on December 7 will end the tyranny, the cronyism, the corruption and the hardship and pave the way for the vision, experience, and trustworthiness that I John Dramani Mahama am going to restore to the Flagstaff House,” he promised.
