President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has praised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as a loyal and dedicated partner, with whom he has collaborated for nearly two decades.
While addressing chiefs and opinion leaders in Wa, in the Upper West Region, President Akufo-Addo expressed his unwavering confidence in Bawumia’s loyalty and competence. He emphasized that he has never once questioned the vice president’s commitment to serving the nation.
“In the nearly 20 years that I have been working with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, I have not had one day, one occasion to doubt his loyalty, to doubt his commitment to our common goal,” the president stated.
Akufo-Addo urged Ghanaians to rally behind Bawumia in the upcoming 2024 elections, arguing that a vote for him is a vote for loyalty, dedication, and continuity of the NPP’s developmental agenda. He called on the electorate to support Bawumia in the bid to “break the 8,” a reference to the NPP’s aim of winning a third consecutive term in office.
“I have come here to ask you for your support to make Bawumia break the 8,” the president appealed.
President Akufo-Addo also took the opportunity to criticize opposition leader John Dramani Mahama, warning voters against being swayed by his claims. “I see that the former president is saying all kinds of things about the number 8 that he chose. That it means he is going to win. Breaking the 8 and having the number 8, that is not a good sign at all,” Akufo-Addo remarked, challenging Mahama’s statements.
