President Akufo-Addo has revoked the appointment of the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Sissala West Assembly in the Upper West Region, Baker Zacharia Mohammed.
He is the next government appointee to have been sacked in the last three months after DCEs for Amansie South and Akuapim North in the Ashanti and Eastern Regions respectively.
A letter signed by Local Government Minister, Hajia Alima Mahama and sighted by Dailymailgh.com said the decision to revoke Zacharia’s appointment takes immediate effect.
The letter further stated that the Upper West Regional Minister, Hafiz Bin-Salih is to “act as the District Chief Executive for the Sissala West District Assembly and exercise oversight responsibility for the Assembly until a new Chief Executive is appointed”.
“By this letter, the outgoing District Chief Executive is requested to hand over properly to you before leaving office”, the letter stated.
No reasons were given for the government’s decision.
Last week, the District Chief Executive for Sekyere East, Mary Boatemaah suffered a similar fate after her appointment was revoked upon the orders of President Akufo-Addo.
She has, however, been reinstated.
