Ghana has recorded 297 new COVID-19 related infections bringing the number of active cases to 1, 776.

Available data on the Ghana Health Service’s webpage pegged the total number of confirmed cases to 57,714.

Five more additional deaths have been recorded bringing the number of fatalities from 341 to 346.

Concerns have already been raised following the spike in the number of cases in Ghana – as many countries continue to battle a new variant of the coronavirus.

Already, President Akufo-Addo has eased several restrictions a phased reopening of schools at all levels.

The President is expected to deliver his 22nd address the nation later tonight as the country’s land and sea borders remain shut as part of efforts to contain the spread of the virus.
