Ghana’s president Nana Akufo-Addo is in Egypt to give the Black Stars moral support as they kick off their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations campaign tonight against Benin.
Akufo-Addo promised the players, technical team and officials of the Senior National Team of his presence before their departure to training base in Dubai when he hosted the team at a dinner at the Jubilee House.
“I will be in Egypt for our first game and I shall return to Egypt to watch you play live in the stadium for the second time in this year’s AFCON if you make it to the final of the tourney of which I strongly believe you would,” said Akufo-Addo.
He arrived safely in Egypt and in the early hours of Tuesday and held discussions with President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, aimed at strengthening the bonds of co-operation that exists between the two countries.
Nana Akufo-Addo is expected to be in Ismailia to watch the Black Stars lock horns against the Squirrels of Benin at the Ismailia Sports Stadium later at 8pm.
