President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has raised concerns about the future of the Agenda 111 hospital projects, warning that a change in government could jeopardize their completion. He emphasized that critical initiatives under his administration might be abandoned if former President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) are voted back into power.

The president highlighted his commitment to seeing some of the Agenda 111 projects completed before his tenure ends. Speaking in the Ashanti Region on Sunday, November 25, he assured Ghanaians of significant progress on key healthcare facilities, including the Sewua Infectious Disease Centre and the Komfo Anokye Maternity and Children’s Hospital, which he noted is 68% complete. He also mentioned the successful completion of the Asante Akyem and Kumawu district hospitals.

“Before I leave office on January 7, 2025, I would have completed and outdoored some of them. Sewua Infectious Disease centre and handed over for use, Komfo Anokye Maternity and Children’s Hospital is 68 percent completed. Asante Akyim District Hospital is completed, Kumawu District Hospital is completed,” President Akufo-Addo stated.

Addressing professional bodies in the region, he urged voters to critically assess the progress made during his administration and the risks of halting these developments under new leadership. He expressed concern that unfinished Agenda 111 projects could be abandoned by an NDC-led government, referencing past instances of similar occurrences.

“With the way some people talk of these projects, the people of Ashanti, think very carefully for December 7. I am convinced that some people will come into office and stop a lot of these projects. The Agenda 111 is not in their hearts, those that are not finished will not be finished, we have seen it before, do not let us make that mistake this time,” he cautioned.

The president’s remarks underscore the significance of continuity in governance to ensure the successful completion of major infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing the country’s healthcare delivery.
