The Chief of Defense Staff, Major General Thomas Oppong-Peprah, along with the Military Secretary, is scheduled to testify later this week in the ongoing ambulance trial.
The prosecution has submitted documents alleging that Richard Jakpa was dismissed from the military in 2007 due to unsatisfactory performance and failure to pass promotional exams. The two military leaders will address these documents.
Richard Jakpa’s lawyers believe these documents aim to undermine their client’s credibility. They have therefore issued subpoenas to ensure the attendance of the military officials.
The trial involves Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, Richard Jakpa, and the Chief of the Ministry of Health, who are accused of causing a financial loss of €2.37 million to the state.
This loss allegedly stems from a contract to purchase 200 ambulances for the Ministry of Health, which, according to court documents, are merely ordinary buses lacking the necessary equipment for ambulances.
