‘An absolute legend of the game’ – CAF on Asamoah Gyan’s retirement

Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) has heaped praises on retiring Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan who made his decision to hang his boots official on Tuesday, June 20, 2023.

Gyan played at six different Africa Cup of Nations tournament and scored eight goals for the Black Stars team and played in two finals.

Gyan was the fulcrum of the Black Stars team in his illustrious playing career and took Ghana twice to the finals in the Africa Cup of Nations tournaments losing to Egypt and Ivory Coast in 2010 and 2015.

Gyan scored six goals at three World Cup tournaments between 2006 and 2014 with his first and last coming against Czech Republic in 2006 in Germany and Portugal in 2014 in Brazil.

 

 

 

He’s Ghana’s all time top scorer with 51 goals in 109 appearances including eight goals at seven AFCON tournaments.
