Tributes have been pouring in following the death of the late Sergeant Owusu Asante Baafi after a fire tore through his apartment on Sunday night.
The policeman died together with his wife and four-month-old baby when firefighters were deployed to battle the blaze at their Apromoase residence within the Ejisu Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
The incident shocked the police administration causing the Inspector General of Police to visit the scene and commiserate with the affected victims and bereaved families.
A New Patriotic Party (NPP) Odeneho Kwaku Appiah is the latest to mourn the fallen officer.
He described him as an “extraordinary officer”, a “brother, and a friend” who has been “supportive, loyal and respectful”.
“Asante Baafi, you never told me you will leave so quickly. l have not slept again and my heart is full of sorrow and tears. Rest well Mr and Mrs Baafi, till we meet again. Coka and his family are grateful”, he wrote in a Facebook post.

Understanding God is sometimes difficult. Why do good people leave this world so quickly? I heard the news with shock at 6:33 am. I called his number to confirm but he couldn’t be reached. I have worked with many policemen in this country but Baafi was extraordinary. He was a brother, and friend, supportive, loyal, and respectful. Asante Baafi, you never told me you will leave so quickly. l have not slept again and my heart is full of sorrow and tears. Rest well Mr and Mrs Baafi, till we meet again. Coka and his family are grateful.
