Ghanaian football star and captain, Andre Ayew, marked a triumphant return to the French Ligue 1 with a stellar performance, securing a draw for Le Havre against Lorient on a memorable Sunday.

Ayew, who faced disappointment with the Black Stars at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, showcased resilience and skill in a crucial role that contributed significantly to Le Havre securing a vital away point.

In a match held at the Stade du Moustoir – Yves Allainmat, the seasoned Ghanaian skipper entered the fray as a substitute in the 70th minute. Demonstrating his prowess, Ayew scored two crucial goals in the dying moments of the game, salvaging a point for Le Havre.

The action-packed game saw the visitors take the lead after just 15 minutes, courtesy of a goal from Emmanuel Sabbi, who converted a penalty. Lorient responded as Imran Louz leveled the score, sending both teams to halftime with a goal each.

Lorient seized the advantage in the second half, with Ayman Kari finding the back of the net in the 51st minute. However, André Ayew, with his characteristic determination, equalized for Le Havre in the 85th minute.

Just when it seemed the host had secured victory with Mohamed Bamba’s goal in the 92nd minute, Ayew stepped up once again, leveling the score in the 94th minute and securing a dramatic draw for the visitors.

Since joining Le Havre as a free agent in November 2023, Ayew has made a notable impact, with this match adding to his impressive four appearances for the club.

Notably, Ayew had earlier represented the Black Stars in the Africa Cup of Nations, making two appearances. Unfortunately, Ghana exited the tournament at the group stage, falling short of advancing after a draw against Mozambique in the final group game. Ayew’s recent heroics with Le Havre undoubtedly provide a silver lining in what has been a rollercoaster season for the talented Ghanaian footballer.
