Ghana’s Black Stars captain, Andre Ayew has picked former Ghana captain and legend, Asamoah Gyan ahead of his childhood idol, Stephen Appiah as he names his best XI teammates.

The former Swansea City AFC deputy captain excluded Appiah, the first captain to qualify Ghana to its first FIFA World Cup tournaments in Germany, 2006 but included Asamoah Gyan in his team.

Due to the rumours of a feud between him and the country’s all time leading scorer, one would think of Andre snubbing the former Ghana captain but the 31-year-old chose Gyan as his best striker.

Missing in the list is Stephen Appiah, a player Ayew idolized during his youthful days as a footballer.

He picked French goalkeeper, Steve Mandanda to be in goal,

Former Ghana defender John Mensah lines up alongside Cesar Azpilicueta, Gabriel Heinze and Benjamin Mendy in defence.

In midfield, Ayew chose Michael Essien and Lucho Gonzalez with a trio of Dimitri Payet, Hatem Ben Arfa and Samir Nasri forming a diamond behind the forward Asamaoh Gyan.

Ayew’s selected a technical team made up of Didier Deschamps and former Marseille duo Mathieu Valbuena and Mamadou Niang.
