The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has called for a renewed focus on infrastructure development in the Ashanti Region, emphasizing the need for a social contract to drive progress rather than reliance on politicians.
Speaking during a courtesy visit by the World Bank Vice President for Western and Central Africa, the Asantehene underscored the critical role of infrastructure in fostering regional development.
“In terms of development, if we have the infrastructure, everything will be fine. I cannot depend on the politicians for my development,” Otumfuo Osei Tutu II remarked.
The revered traditional leader further stressed the importance of collaboration between stakeholders to achieve tangible results, urging for a framework that goes beyond political promises.
“I don’t want to depend on them, so let’s have a social contract and then we do it,” he added.
His comments highlight the need for innovative approaches to development, with a focus on partnerships that prioritize the needs of the people over political interests.
