Two brothers, Fofo Agboyemeh and Kwame Agboyemeh, narrowly escaped death at the hands of an angry mob in Ashalaja after being accused of exhuming the body of a 10-year-old boy from a local cemetery.

The incident, which occurred on January 14, has left the community in shock.

According to eyewitness accounts, the brothers allegedly dug up the remains of James Ajoyemeh, a 10-year-old boy, from a cemetery in Adewukwa, a community in Bawjiase. Their actions reportedly attracted attention, and they were intercepted by a group of motorbike riders in Ashalaja around 1 a.m. following a tip-off.

The mob, incensed by the act, attacked the brothers and inflicted severe injuries on them before the police intervened. Officers from the Dankyira Police Unit arrived just in time to rescue the siblings, preventing the situation from escalating into a fatal lynching.

The Awutu Bawjiase Police Command has launched a full investigation to uncover the motive behind the exhumation and ensure justice is served.

“The police are committed to determining the reasons behind this disturbing incident and bringing all perpetrators to justice,” a police spokesperson stated.

Due to the extent of their injuries, the two brothers were taken to the Bawjiase Polyclinic for medical treatment.

Community leaders have appealed for calm, urging residents to allow law enforcement to handle the matter. They have also called on the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands.

As investigations continue, the shocking event has sparked widespread discussions within the community about maintaining peace and trusting the authorities to deliver justice.
