Bodies of two children found in a concrete water tank at a construction site at Ejisu-Dominase in the Ashanti Region have triggered police investigations.

The victims, Lukeman and Blessing – both four and two years old respectively – got missing in the early hours of Thursday, while they were playing on a construction site.

Assemblyman for the area Emmanuel Ankama who confirmed the incident to Asaase News said the community made the shocking discovery after hours of search.

“Yesterday [Thursday] around 11 a.m., I was called by my committee chairman that two children got drowned at a site nearly 500meters away from their house… We gather that the two-year-old girl fell into the tank but unfortunately the two got drowned when the four-year-old boy tried to save her.”

Police in the area who visited the scene have since deposited the bodies to the Emina Hospital morgue. The Assemblyman believes the victims would have survived if their parents monitored their movements at that enclave.

“At times you don’t understand the parents, they should be extra careful in such situations. We even thought the children had been kidnapped”, the opinion leader said as he adds some of the developers would be summoned by the police.

It comes after a similar incident occured at in the Oforikrom Municipality. Two siblings died in the process.
