The Bekwai District Court has remanded a 28-year-old man for allegedly killing his girlfriend and 7-year-old son at Poano near Anwiankwata in the Bekwai Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
The suspect Isaac Kwadwo Boakye, a welder went into hiding after committing the crime in February this year. He was however arrested at his hideout at Kwamankese near Mankessim in the Central Region on the 27th of May, the prosecution told the court during a sitting early this week.
The suspect has provisionally been charged with murder after he admitted to killing Agnes Duah and her son, Emmanuel Twumasi after a misunderstanding.
The prosecution prayed the court to remand the suspect into prison custody as the police await advice from the Attorney General’s Department.
The court granted the prayer and consequently ordered the police to place the suspect into prison custody to reappear on the 15th of June 2023. An autopsy report has been completed and would be submitted to the in the next adjourned date.
