Police at Kuntanase in the Ashanti Region have opened investigations after a charred body was found in a vehicle destroyed by fire at Tetrefu in the Bosomtwe District.
Some residents who made the shocking discovery along the Tetrefu-Homabenase road on Monday, are not ruling out a case of arson and murder. They were unable to determine whether the body belonged to a man or a woman.
Police officers dispatched to the scene have since conveyed the body to the morgue. Assemblyman for the area Kusi Obuodum says efforts are underway to identify the victim.
“The vehicle was parked in-between Tetrefu-Homabenase road, even that, whoever did that, drove the car some 40 metres away from the main road before committing the crime. We have no idea what might have led to the death of the victim and so we immediately informed police at Kuntenase who have since taking over investigations into the incident “.
The saloon car with registration number GT-2887-22 has since been towed by the police as part of investigations.
