Police in Tepa are investigating the murder of a 24-year-old commercial motor rider, who was beheaded in the town of Tepa Asuhyea in the Ahafo Ano North municipality of the Ashanti Region.
The deceased Antwi Silas, a resident of Tepa Subrisu, was reportedly approached around 11 p.m. Thursday by two unidentified men seeking transport to Asuhyea, an adjoining town. Reports say, the suspects allegedly turned on him and launched a deadly attack upon reaching the middle of the road, close to a nearby cemetery.
Eyewitnesses said the young rider cried out for help, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries before assistance could arrive. Nearby residents, who had been at the cemetery, rushed to the scene upon hearing his cries, causing the suspects to flee.
Police discovered deep cuts around his neck and other body parts. It is not clear whether the suspects took his personal effects away.
The Tepa Police Command is actively searching for the suspects and has confirmed that the body has been sent to the Tepa Government Hospital for autopsy and preservation.
The community of Tepa Asuhyea is reeling from the news, with residents expressing shock and sorrow over the tragic incident as police work to bring justice to the family of the deceased.
