Ashanti Region records 1,010 cases as 22 more test positive for Covid-19

Ashanti Region has confirmed 1,010 Covid-19 cases as at Saturday, May 23, 2020. 

The region recorded 22 new cases from areas including Obuasi and Kumasi metro, according to the Ghana Health Service.

Regional Director in charge of Health Services, Dr Emmanuel Tenkorang, had said at a press briefing that seven persons have died after testing positive for the virus.

He had said that 23 out of 45 districts in the region have recorded Covid-19 cases.

Ghana’s Covid-19 case count

The country’s Covid-19 case count currently stands at 6,617 with 31 deaths and 1,978 recoveries.

The Greater Accra contributed the most number of cases 81, with specific areas such as Ga South and Korle Klottey featuring significantly.

13 new cases were recorded in the Western Region with all the cases from Prestea Huni Valley.

The Central region recorded 10 new cases since the last update about 24 hours earlier.

Western North and Volta recorded four and one new cases respectively.

Central Region – 297

Western Region – 208

Eastern Region – 106

Western North Region – 61

Volta Region – 45

Northern Region – 34

Oti Region – 26

Upper East Region – 26

Upper West Region – 21

North East Region – 2

Bono Region – 1

Savannah Region – 0

Ahafo Region – 0

Bono East Region – 0
