A circuit has sentenced a 24-year-old unemployed male adult to 10 years imprisonment with hard labour for attacking and robbing a student.
The convict, Prince Osei Kwaku pleaded guilty to the offence of robbery contrary to Section 149 of the Criminal Offences Act 1960 (Act 29).
Detective Inspector Stephen K Oppong, prosecuting told the court that the convict is unemployed and resided at Old Tafo in Kumasi.
He told the court that on the 30th of April 2023, the convict, armed with a knife attacked and robbed the victim, Anthony Bekoe of his iPhone, valued at 1500 Ghana cedis. He subsequently bolted leaving his sandals and face towel at the crime scene.
The victim subsequently lodged a formal complaint and presented the items to the Old Tafo Police Station for evidential purposes.
The accused person was later arrested at his hideout on the 1st of May. The convict upon his arrest, admitted the offence and revealed that he had sold the phone for three hundred Ghana cedis at Adum.
He was charged, arraigned and later convicted on his plea.
